Nalazi se na granici povijesnih pokrajina isto\u010dne Slavonije i zapadnog Srijema. Grad le\u017ei na va\u017enim prometnim pravcima. Od pamtivijeka je dolinom Dunava kroz vukovarsko podru\u010dje tekao promet od sjeverozapada prema jugoistoku. Uvo\u0111enjem parobroda od sredine 19. stolje\u0107a, a danas dolaskom turisti\u010dkih brodova, Vukovar je povezan s Budimpe\u0161tom i Be\u010dom uzvodno i sve do Rumunjske nizvodno. Vukovarska luka, kao najve\u0107a rije\u010dna luka u Hrvatskoj, va\u017ena je uvozna i izvozna postaja. Za potrebe obavljana stru\u010dnih i administrativnih poslova osnovan je Turisti\u010dki ured.
